Fortunate Sons

Young men are drafted to Vietnam and sent to their last mission. Unforunately, Viet Cong is not the only thing hunting for them.

In 1968, after many years of war, the Viet Cong initiated the Tet Offensive. The Americans are worn down by the futile war, and both sides commit attrocities against each other. The endless jungle and the hidden fortifications of the enemy has led the Americans to a desperation never seen before.

The jungle burns. Somewhere near the border of Cambodia, CIA has created a network of secret bases that track down anomalies and do what it takes to protect the free world. Only the most skilled or the most unwanted are sent here. The first ones to carry out extreme missions, and the latter ones to their deaths.

Now, the offensive threatens even these secret operations. Camp Geraldine is being torn down, but one last mission must be done. Deep in the jungle lurks a threat that nobody talks about. The ones who are left for this one-way mission are people who have nothing to lose, or those who must be left in the jungle. A Viet Cong stronghold must be destroyed to halt this axis of advance. The men know this, but they know that there is more to this mission than is told.

  • It became necessary to destroy the town to save it

Robert Clearwater

A failure in his previous life, Robert was one of the few who willingly entered the draft station. He doesn't reveal his true family name, but many have guessed. He worked as a parachute packer, but as the war continued, even he was sent to the jungle. However, with the connections of his politician father, he was given the alternative to join an unofficial expedition.

Now, he is strapped to the medical bed on a secret CIA base that even the generals don't have marked on their maps. He says he met something inhuman. He tells fantastic tales of some sort of god or monster that lives in the jungle. A monster that feeds on American soldiers. And Chinese, for what it's worth. He tells how time stops, how the monster tortures its victims. Somehow Robert was the only survivor. And Robert just wants to leave this life.
